The triple goddess symbol is made up of a crescent moon, a full moon, and a waning moon. Each moon represents the three facets of the Goddess: the maiden, the mother, and the crone. All three are the same person, as is the same moon. Each refers to a different stage in a woman's life cycle as well as her presence in the realms of Earth, the Underworld, and Heaven.

Death: Old woman and waning moon. It represents the end of a cycle or stage, as well as the success achieved. It is the acquired wisdom and the death that occurs so that there can be a new beginning. The old woman teaches us to learn from truth and maturity.

The Triple Goddess is also associated with Hecate, mother of all witches.
