Palmistry, the art of reading hands, dates back approximately 5,000 years and although its exact origin is unknown, it is known that it has been practiced in different cultures. During the Middle Ages, its practice was prohibited as it was a skill that only witches could master.
The gypsies popularized this art and it was only practiced by women, who learned it from their mothers, generation after generation.
To this piece, inspired by the classic neon sign “Palm Reader”, we wanted to add an eye in the palm of the hand that represents the desire for omniscience. Since ancient times, the hand with an eye has been used by different cultures and in different ways but always with the same purpose: Protection. The eye drives away the evil eye and attracts happiness, wealth and health.
Fate is in your hands, but, hanging on your chest, you increase the protection for your present and future.
