Palmistry, the art of palm reading, dates back approximately 5,000 years. While its exact origins are unknown, it is known to have been practiced in different cultures. During the Middle Ages, its practice was prohibited because it was a skill mastered only by witches.
Gypsy women popularized this art and it was practiced only by women, who learned it from their mothers, generation after generation.
To this piece, inspired by the classic "Palm Reader" neon sign, we added an eye in the palm of the hand, representing the desire for omniscience. Since ancient times, the hand with an eye has been used by different cultures and in different forms, but always with the same purpose: protection. The eye wards off the evil eye and attracts happiness, wealth, and health.
